Man Killed In DUI Crash In LITH Identified

The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the man as Zdzislaw Klimentowski, 76, of Chicago.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL —The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified a man killed in a collision in Lake in the Hills on Saturday, authorities told Patch.

The collision happened at about 5 p.m. in the area of Pyott Road and East Oak Street when a black 2012 Nissan Juke, which was heading south on Pyott Road, collided with a northbound 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, Amanda Schmitt, public information officer for Lake in the Hills, told Patch.

The passenger in the Volkswagen was pronounced dead at the scene. The man killed in the collision has been identified as Zdzislaw Klimentowski, 76, of Chicago, coroner's office officials said Friday. Preliminary findings from an autopsy show Klimentowski died from blunt trauma to various structures and organs.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Jakub Kakietek of Huntley, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley and later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Schmitt said. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
