No Driving For Cary Man Who Dragged Officer With Car: Officials
The officer who was dragged by the car of a 21-year-old Cary man suffered bruises and possible injuries to his elbows, according to officals

CARY, IL — Pre-trial release has been approved for a 21-year-old Cary man accused of dragging an officer with his car after being pulled over in McHenry over the weekend.
Angel Rodriguez, 21, of the 300 block of Milano Drive, faces several charges in connection with the incident, which happened during a traffic stop early Sunday in the 1200 block of North Green Street, according to police. Authorities say he had open alcohol in his car at the time.
Police say Rodriguez initially ran his blue Hyundai Tucson into the McHenry Police Department squad car at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday. While talking to the officer, who was attempting to get Rodriguez's drivers license and insurance information, he put his foot on the gas, authorities say.

The officer's arm became stuck in the car's door, and the car dragged him along while southbound on Green Street, according to the McHenry Police Department news release.

The officer freed himself when the car stopped at Green Street and Waukegan Road, authorities said. The officer sustained minor injuries, including bruises to his right knee and possible injuries to both his elbows. He received treatment at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.
On Monday, McHenry County Circuit Court Judge Michael Chmiel granted Rodriguez's pre-trial release from the McHenry County Jail. As part of his conditions for release, Rodriguez cannot drive or operate a motor vehicle and cannot possess a firearm or dangerous weapon, according to court documents provided to Patch.
Rodriguez has been charged with aggravated assault, threatening with a motor vehicle; resisting or obstructing a police officer causing injury, attempt aggravated assault on an officer, reckless driving and transportation of an open alcohol by a driver.
McHenry County Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the McHenry Police Department at 815-363-2599. Rodriguez is next expected in court on June 6.
