McHenry Police Department Announces New Puppy Selected As Department's Future Therapy Dog
The department has asked residents to help choose the puppy's name.
The McHenry Police Department said they have selected a four-month-old puppy as the department’s soon-to-be therapy dog and are looking for name suggestions.
The department made the announcement Monday afternoon on social media.

The puppy was born on May 25 and is currently six weeks old.
The police department is expected to take possession of the dog sometime in August.

The dog will begin its therapy training when it reaches four months old.
It will complete an American Kennel Club (AKC) approved therapy dog training to become a certified police therapy canine, the department said.
The police department has not yet selected a name for the dog and is asking for the public’s help in selecting the name.
The department said they have narrowed down the choices for names to four: Oakley, Oliver, Pax and Myles.
