McHenry Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run
Christine Eilers faces charges for allegations she hit and 24-year-old Island Lake man with her car and then fled the scene.
ISLAND LAKE, IL — A McHenry woman is accused of running her vehicle into a 24-year-old Island Lake man before leaving the scene of the collision in September 2024.
Christine S. Eilers, ADDRESS, now faces charges in connection with the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of Austin Stanek. The collision happened in the 4300 block of Roberts Road in unincorporated Island Lake on September 27.
According to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court last week, Eilers hit Stanek with her 2013 Nissan Murano at about 10:50 p.m. on September 27. She then fled the scene of the crash and did not report the collision.

Eilers faces felony charges of failure to report a crash/death and crash causing injury or death.
During an initial court appearance on Jan. 7, Eilers was granted pre-trial release. Conditions of her release include: refraining from drinking alcohol, a court-ordered curfew and electronic monitoring.

Eilers is next expected in court on February 19 for a preliminary hearing.
