Two people inside the Hellcat died at the scene and have not yet been positively identified, police said Monday. The driver of the Volvo, a 47-year-old Woodstock woman, died at the scene, and a juvenile passenger in her car was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver and passenger in the Jeep were not injured and did not require medical treatment.
Speed and reckless driving by the Hellcat driver are believed to be contributing factors to the crash. Police said alcoholic beverage containers were found at the scene, but it is unknown if they are contributing factors at this time.
The passengers of the Volvo were both wearing seatbelts and airbags did deploy.
The investigation continues by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
