Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Reckless Driving Crash: Police
The crash happened Sunday night at West Roberts Road and Center Street in Port Barrington.
PORT BARRINGTON, IL — A 41-year-old Lake Zurich man was critically injured when he collided into the back of another vehicle in Port Barrington on Sunday night.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at West Roberts Road and Center Street at about 7:25 p.m. and found the motorcyclist, who suffered a fractured neck and severe head injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and remained critically injured Monday morning, police said.

Authorities learned the collision happened while the 41-year-old Lake Zurich man was driving recklessly alongside another motorcycle, headed east on Roberts Road and weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. The duo was also illegally passing other vehicles, according to the news release.
The Lake Zurich man, who was driving a 2012 BMW motorcycle, went into the westbound lanes to pass a group of motorcycles and ended up running into the back of an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado, which was driven by a 47-year-old Wauconda man.

The Lake Zurich man was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from his motorcycle. The driver of the other motorcycle, who was traveling with the Lake Zurich man, did not stop at the crash scene.
The driver of the BMW motorcycle was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
