Motorcyclist Flown To Hospital After Crystal Lake Crash: Police

A sports utility vehicle collided with a motorcycle at Heritage Road and Main Street in Crystal Lake on Monday afternoon.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A motorcyclist was flown to the hospital following a collision Monday afternoon in Crystal Lake, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday when a sports utility vehicle headed south from Heritage Road onto Main Street collided with a northbound motorcycle, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. The SUV failed to yield while turning onto Main Street, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken by Flight for Life helicopter to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old Algonquin resident, was not injured. The driver has been cited for failure to yield while turning left, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
