Newlyweds With Ties To Crystal Lake Identified As Couple Found Shot Dead In Car On Route 14: Authorities

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL —A newly married couple found shot dead in a car parked in traffic on Route 14 in Harvard on Tuesday has been identified.

An investigation into the deaths of Rachel Dumovich, 29, and Brandon Dumovich, 30, is underway after a Harvard Police Department officer found them both fatally shot at about 11:50 p.m. on Monday. The officer made the discovery after going to check on a vehicle that had its hazard lights on while parked in a northbound lane of Route 14.

Both Rachel and Brandon were found dead inside and each suffered a gunshot wound, police said. A gun was found inside the vehicle.

Autopsies have been scheduled for Thursday, according to the coroner's office.

Rachel Dumovich and Brandon Dumovich got married less than a year ago and were just days shy of their first anniversary, according to a wedding planning website. The couple, who most recently lived in Sharon, Wisconsin, is originally from Crystal Lake.
