No Injuries In Bull Valley Garage Fire

BULL VALLEY, IL — Firefighters quickly extinguished an attached garage fire in Bull Valley and stopped the blaze from spreading to a home Monday afternoon. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 3:43 p.m. Monday to the 9600 block of West Bull Valley Road in Bull Valley for a report of a structure fire.

One of the homeowners called 911 and firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames showing from a garage attached to the home.

Two residents were actively trying to extinguish the fire using garden hoses. Firefighters used a hose line and engaged in an aggressive exterior attack on the blaze.

All residents were determined to have safely evacuated prior to arrival.

Firefighters had to set up water shuttle operations because there are no fire hydrants in the area.

The fire was determined to be under control after 20 minutes. Firefighters spent the next two hours conducting an investigation and overhauling the burn area.

The damage was limited to the garage but the living area of the residence was filled with smoke and required ventilation.

A preliminary investigation discovered a potential electrical issue with an exterior mounted light fixture, officials said. The fire is not considered suspicious and remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

There were no injuries to the residents or firefighters. The home remains habitable and damage estimates were not immediately available.
