Police Give Update In Deaths Of Newlyweds Found In Car

Brandon and Rachel Dumovich died just days before their first wedding anniversary.

HARVARD, IL — The causes of death for a newlywed couple found fatally shot in a parked car in traffic on Route 14 in Harvard has not been released but police said Tuesday the incident "appears to be isolated" and that there is no danger or threat to the public.

Brandon Peter Dumovich, 30, and his wife, Rachel Dumovich, 29, were both found dead in their vehicle at about 11:50 p.m. on October 6 — which was just a day after Brandon's 30th birthday. A police officer made the discovery after going to check on their vehicle, which had its hazard lights on while parked in a northbound lane of Route 14, police said.

Police are waiting to receive the McHenry County Coroner's final report and to review and process "additional evidentiary items."
