Norge Ski Jump Celebrates 120 Years

The club's winter ski jump competition will be held this weekend in Fox River Grove.

FOX RIVER GROVE, IL — It's time to get ready for high-flying fun. The Norge Ski Club is celebrating 120 years and is bringing its annual winter ski jump competition back to Fox River Grove this weekend.

The winter ski jump tournament will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, with gates opening at 10:30 a.m., and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, with gates opening at 11 a.m. The Norge Ski Club, which has been Fox River Grove for 120 years, prepares athletes for Olympic-level competition in the sport of ski jumping.

The fun begins Saturday at noon with the club's juniors followed by intermediate ski jumpers at the ski hill's 40-meter jump. In the afternoon, Olympic hopefuls will launch off the towering 70 meter jump, according to the Norge Ski Club website.

On Sunday, the competition starts again at noon with 70-meter jumps all afternoon.

A weekend pass button can be purchased online for $20. The cost is $25 at the gate. There will be food and beverage available for purchase at Norge.

Those interested in getting VIP access can purchased tickets for $125. VIP access includes indoor restrooms, beverages (water pop, wine and hard seltzer), lunch, a dessert table, silent auction and raffle.
