Objection Over Ballot Misspelling Overruled
A candidate for the McHenry County Board will remain on the Republican primary ballot following an objection by his opponent.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A candidate running for an open seat on the McHenry County Board will be able to stay on the ballot after McHenry County's electoral board overruled an opponents objection to his candidacy.
The issue came to light when Erick Hendricks of Lake in the Hills, an incumbent also running in the Republican primary for the District 3 seat, filed a complaint claiming Bob Nowak of Algonquin misspelled Republican —leaving the "c" out and spelling "Republian" instead — when he filed to run for the seat, according to Shaw Local News Network. He also put his zip code in the wrong area on the paperwork, Hendricks claimed in the objection.
During the hearing Tuesday before the electoral board, Hendricks argued the typo was not in compliance with the electoral code while Nowak apologized for the mistake and the typo came after he "didn't proofread" the paperwork but "should have."
