Olympian Among Jumpers Expected At Norge This Weekend

The 117th Annual Winter Ski Jump competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove.

FOX RIVER GROVE, IL — One Olympian will be among the ski jumpers expected to compete during the Norge Ski Club's Winter Ski Jump competition in Fox River Grove.

Michael Glasder of Cary, who competed in the 2018 Olympics and is Norge Ski Club member, is expected to be at this year's event, but Kevin Bickner of Wauconda, Casey Larson of Barrington and Patrick Gasienica of Cary — who will compete in the 2022 Olympics in Bejiing — are not able to make it this year, according to the Daily Herald.

The professionals will compete on Sunday while a junior competition will be held Saturday, with ski jumpers ranging in ages 5 to 17 years showing off their skills on several small hills and the 70-meter ski jump, which is the tallest at the event, according to the article.

Last year, the event had a 1,000-person limit but this year, between 6,000 and 8,000 people are expected.

Gates open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and the competitions will run from noon to 4 p.m. You can purchase tickets online before the event for $15 and admission is $20 at the gate. Children ages 12 and under are free.

Free shuttle busses will run from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for spectators attending the event on Jan. 29 and 30. All riders over the age of 2 years old must wear a mask on the bus.

No eating or drinking is allowed on the bus. The bus will stop at the Metra train Station in Fox River Grove as well as the Stonehill Shopping Center parking lot at the intersection of Route 14 and Route 22.
