Opening Dates At Three Oaks Announced

The marina at the Crystal Lake recreation area is set to open in April and the swimming beach and scuba zone will open in May.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — It's almost that time of year again.

The popular Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake will soon be opening its marina, swim beach and scuba zone to the public for the summer season.

The marina at Three Oaks is tentatively scheduled to open on April 30 and will be open on weekends — Saturday and Sundays — in April. Only row boats will be available in April due to the cold weather.

The entire fleet of boats will become available in May, according to city officials. And the recreation area's scuba zone is set to tentatively open in May, weather permitting.

Open Water Swim will be held on Thursdays and Saturdays in June and July, except for July 4 and July 6. The schedule for open water swim is as follows:

  • Saturdays: 7:30 to 9 a.m.
  • Thursdays: 6 to 7:30 p.m.
