Police Officer Rescues Woman In Wheelchair From House Fire: Fire Officials
The fire was reported in the 200 block of Sparrow Drive in Woodstock on Tuesday evening.
WOODSTOCK, IL — A Woodstock Police Department officer rescued a woman who was in a wheelchair from a house fire Tuesday evening.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the home in the 200 block of Sparrow Drive in Woodstock at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of an appliance on fire in the kitchen, according to a news release from the fire/rescue district.
A Woodstock Police Department officer arrived just before fire crews got to the blaze and rescued the woman, who was in a wheelchair, from the smoke-filled home. Firefighters were then able to quickly extinguish the blaze, according to the news release.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for further treatment, fire officials said.
The blaze was contained to the kitchen and smoke damage was found throughout the home, and the house remains uninhabitable until repairs can be made.
