Search Continues For Hit-And-Run Driver After 1 Seriously Injured
The collision happened early Saturday morning on Route 173 near Crawford Road in Old Mill Creek.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — An investigation continues after a McHenry man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision early Saturday in Lake County.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision on Route 173 near Crawford Road in Old Mill Creek at about 3:10 a.m. Saturday and found the driver of a 1993 Kawasaki Ninja, a 54-year-old McHenry man, with serious injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
An investigation into the collision shows the Kawasaki was headed east on Route 173 when it was hit by a vehicle, which then left the scene. The Kawasaki lost control and crashed, according to authorities.

As of Tuesday, investigators were continuing to work to identify the vehicle and driver," said Christopher Covelli, deputy chief for the Lake County Coroner's Office. No one has been taken into custody in connection with the hit-and-run crash.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital with injuries that were serious but not considered life-threatening, police said.

Crash investigators have recovered car parts from the vehicle that fled the scene, which they are examining to try and determine the make and model of car. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
