Residents Told To Stay Inside After Dogs Injure Deputy, Several Others

One of the "aggressive" pit bulls was shot by a deputy Thursday night, and the other remained on the loose, police said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Residents in McHenry were being advised to stay indoors and report any sightings of an aggressive pit bull after several people were bitten, including a deputy, Thursday evening.

Police responded to the area of West Huemann Drive and Stilling Boulevard in McHenry, where they found several people injured, according to a post on the sheriff's office post. One deputy was bitten, and one of the two dogs was shot by a deputy.

The other aggressive dog was still on the loose as of Thursday night, police said. Residents were urged to stay inside and report any sightings of the dog to the sheriff's office by calling 815-338-2144.
