Snow Plow Truck Becomes Fully Engulfed In Flames In Woodstock

The fire is believed to have begun in the engine compartment of the vehicle and was mechanical in nature.

Firefighters extinguished a fully engulfed snow plow truck fire on Route 14 in Woodstock during the snowfall Saturday evening, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 7:58 p.m. Saturday to the area of Route 14 between Kishwaukee Valley Road and South Street.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Spokesman Alex Vucha said crews received a report of a vehicle fire.

Firefighters arrived and found a fully involved pickup truck fire in the southbound lanes of Route 14.

The pickup truck, which had a snowplow attached to the front, was not a municipal vehicle, Vucha said.

Firefighters quickly pulled a hose line and extinguished the fire within minutes.

The driver was the sole occupant in the vehicle and was not injured in the incident.

Route 14 was closed in both directions for approximately 40 minutes while the fire was extinguished and the vehicle was towed.

The fire occurred during a snowstorm that left Woodstock with 5.4 inches of snow, according to a snowfall report from the National Weather Service.
