Snowfall Totals From Weekend Snowstorm In McHenry County

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Several inches of snow fell across the Chicago area over the weekend, with portions of McHenry County seeing up to 8 inches of additional snow on the ground.

The National Weather Service has released snowfall totals from the weekend snowstorm and here is a look at the recorded totals:

• Woodstock: 8 inches
• Hebron: 7.3 inches
• Volo: 7.1 inches
• Lake Forest: 7
• Rockford: 7
• Bull Valley: 6.8
• Timberlane: 6.4
• Rockford Airport: 5.1
• Chicago O'Hare Airport: 2.3

The slow-moving snowstorm brought multiple bands of heavy snow to far northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin on Saturday. The snow rates reached one inch per hour, making travel hazardous at times.

Snow is not in the forecast in the coming days but the cold temps have since made an appearance. Tuesday is expected to be cold throughout the Chicago area before a modest warm up on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temps will turn cold again Thursday night through Friday with temps expected to warm up over the weekend and into next week.

• Tuesday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 9. Wind chill values as low as -18 degrees with light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 27. West southwest wind around 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
