St. Charles Property Tax Dollars Doled Out To Mental Health Agencies

The St. Charles City Council has approved the allocation of $632,269 in funds be allocated to 21 not-for-profit agencies.

ST. CHARLES, IL — In St. Charles, nearly every four cents of ever $100 of property taxes collected by the city of St. Charles is allocated to agencies that offer mental health services.

This past year, the St. Charles Community 708 Mental Health Board received 22 applications from agencies in town and presented its recommendations for funding allocation to the city council at a July 17 meeting, according to a news release from the village.

The council approved $632,269 be allocated to 21 not-for-profit agencies. Here is a breakdown of how much each agency will receive:

The mission of the St. Charles Community 708 Mental Health Board is to support and fund local, community-based, high-quality programs and services for St. Charles citizens with mental health needs, substance abuse needs, and developmental disabilities, according to a news release.
