St. Patrick's Day 2019: 5 Festive Events In McHenry County

There's something for all ages happening this St. Patrick's Day weekend across McHenry County.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – St. Patrick's Day celebrations kick off Friday, March 15 and continue all weekend across the McHenry County area. The festive fun includes parades, music, Irish food, drink fireworks and more. Whether you plan on celebrating with your family, friends, or both, there's something fun for all ages.

Here are five festive St. Patrick's Day happenings in the McHenry County Area this weekend:

St. Patrick's Shenanigans

Where: Nikos Red Mill Tavern, 1040 Lake Avenue, Woodstock

When: 11 a.m. Friday, March 15 through 1 a.m. Sunday, March 18; Jess Piano will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

Shamrock the Fox in McHenry

The festivities will get underway early in McHenry on Saturday and continuing through Sunday. Here is a look at the schedule events for this year's event, which will include the first-ever dying of the Fox River, a parade, music and more

  • 8 a.m.: McHenry Shamrock Shuffle 5k
  • 9 a.m.: Dyeing of the Fox River: Between Pearl Street Bridge and Rte 120 down to Miller Point and Boone Lagoon.
  • 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.: Miller Point - Children's Activities, Live Music and Beer Tent - Food at local restaurants.
  • 11 a.m..: McHenry St. Pat's Parade; The parade will be staged in the East Campus Parking Lot, before following this route.

Entertainment at Miller Point:

  • 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Sprig O'Mint All Star Duo (Irish Music)
  • 2:30 p.m.: Irish Dancers
  • 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Yours Truly
  • 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Mike Zabrin & Funktastic
  • 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feel Good Band

Sunday, March 17

  • 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Miller Point - Children's Activities, Live Music and Beer Tent - Food at local restaurants.
  • 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Cirrus Falcon Band (Irish Music)
  • 2:30 p.m. - Irish Music
  • 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Cover Girls
  • 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm - Karma Committee
  • 7 p.m. - Fireworks from Miller Point.

10th Annual Barrington Celtic Fest

Where: McGonigal’s Pub & The Loft, 105 S. Cook Street, Barrington

When: Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 (11 a.m. to 2 a.m.) and Sunday, March 17 (9 a.m. to 1 a.m.)

St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Where: Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Crystal Lake, 5340 Northwest Hwy, Suite B.

When: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16

Shades of Green Hike

Where: Crabtree Nature Center, 3 Stover Road, Barrington Hills

When: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17
