MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A powerful storm that ripped through the Chicago area Saturday lead to downed power lines and trees across McHenry County.
The storms produced an EF-0 tornado with peak winds of 80 mph in Kane County on Saturday, the National Weather Service said. The path of the tornado that hit close to Big Rock was nearly four miles, according to NWS. The tornado downed trees and tree limbs, damaged the roof of a barn and snapped at least one power pole.
Wind gusts of 77 mph were recorded at DuPage Airport in West Chicago and gusts of more than 55 mph were recorded throughout the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

In McHenry County, authorities reported trees and power lines down Saturday. As of Sunday, only a handful of power outages were being reported in McHenry County, according to ComEd.
