Ted Nugent Show 'Fastest-Selling' In McHenry County Fair History
According to a report, sales from the day tickets became available equaled what the entertainment director anticipated for a whole month.

MCHENRY COUNTY — If there's one thing McHenry County Fair organizers don't have to worry about in the wake of backlash for booking controversial musician Ted Nugent as the 2019 fair headliner, it's ticket sales. Patch recently reported tickets for Nugent's Aug. 3 show at the McHenry County Fair went on sale Wednesday. According to The Daily Herald, it became the fastest-selling show in fair history.
Jeff Kleinschmidt, who was hired as the entertainment director for this year's county fair, reported Wednesday's sales were equal to what he'd anticipated for a whole month. The Daily Herald added that booking musical acts for suburban events like the county fair can sometimes collide with politics, and controversy can have a big impact on ticket sales.
"People are slamming us as (making) a political move, but we never even thought of this as a political move," Kleinschmidt said, according to The Daily Herald. "This is a rock concert. Ted Nugent is a legend." The news report added that the fair is debuting new grandstands this year and wanted a big rock concert, reporting that Kleinschmidt said he presented several performer options to a fair committee, which made its final choice "based on its budget, the musician's availability and the expected turnout."
