Vehicle Crashes Into Garage; Building Evacuated Due To Gas Leak: Authorities
A vehicle crashed into the garage of a duplex in the 2300 block of Aspen Drive on Saturday afternoon.
WOODSTOCK, IL — Authorities evacuated a building in Woodstock while emergency crews addressed a gas leak caused when a vehicle ran into the garage of a duplex Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the 2300 block of Aspen Drive at about 2:50 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a vehicle that crashed into the garage of single-story duplex, according to authorities.
The driver, a woman, was able to get out of her car before fire crews arrived at the scene and was evaluated at the scene but declined further treatment or transport to a hospital, according to a news release from the fire district.

A natural gas meter was damaged during the collision, which caused an active leak, according to fire officials.
Firefighters secured the damaged natural gas meter until Nicor Gas arrived and completed a full assessment, fire officials said. Representatives from the City of Woodstock Building & Zoning Department were requested due to the structural damage, and as a precaution, the adjoining unit was temporarily evacuated while the gas leak was addressed.

The residence remains habitable while repairs are being made. No additional injuries were reported.
The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the crash.
