Heavy Rains Force Suspension of Wake Hours on Crystal Lake
Lake water level is too high to allow boating speeds that create a wake.

The week's heavy rainfall has dampened recreational use of boats on Crystal Lake this weekend.
Effective Friday, June 28, the village of Lakewood and the city of Crystal Lake officially suspended wake hours on Crystal Lake. The suspension of wake hours will remain in effect until further notice and will be strictly enforced, according to the Crystal Lake city webpage.Â
The water level in Crystal Lake has been monitored closely by the Lakewood Police Department since the storm event earlier this week and, as of 9 a.m. Friday, the water level exceeds the nine inch threshold established by ordinance.Â
Official notices have been posted on all private beaches and public entrances to Crystal Lake.Â
Once the lake level falls below the nine inch threshold, the suspension will be lifted and regular wake hours will be reestablished.Â
