Wauconda Latin Heritage Fest Cancelled Amid Concerns Over Immigration Raids

The village, police department and Transfiguration Church made the "difficult decision" to cancel this year's event, according to police.

WAUCONDA, IL — The Wauconda Latin Heritage Fest, which was scheduled for this weekend, has been cancelled due to concerns over the current immigration situation in the Chicago area.

In a Facebook post this past week, the Wauconda Police Department reported the village, police department and Transfiguration Church made the "difficult decision to cancel" this year's fest.

"We know how meaningful this event is for our community, and the choice was not made lightly by the committee. Our goal is always to ensure that everyone feels safe, respected, and welcome in Wauconda," according to the Facebook post.
