Wauconda Man Gets 5 Years In IDOC For McHenry Co. Burglary Charge

A judge sentenced the man to 5 years in prison, nearly 3.5 years after he illegally entered an unincorporated McHenry County home.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Wauconda man has been sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for one count of felony residential burglary, stemming from a March 2016 incident in unincorporated McHenry County, Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State's Attorney, announced Wednesday in a release. McHenry County Circuit Court Judge Robert Wilbrandt sentenced 51-year-old Christopher Keeton to prison, nearly 3.5 years after Keeton knowingly and illegally entered a home on or about March 4, 2016, in unincorporated McHenry County, and planned to steal or commit a felony, according a release from the state's attorney's office.

Keeton escaped from the home once he was found by the homeowner, and was arrested by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit four days later, according to the release.

The case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Kyle Bruett of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
