Weekender: House Walk, Johnny Appleseed Festival, Pumpkin Patches & Bike Tour

Warm weather, pumpkin patches and apple festival are among weekend highlights.

It's looking like a perfect Fall weekend, Cary and Crystal Lake Patchers, which means it's a great time to get out and enjoy the many autumn happenings around town.

The weather outlook for Saturday is "mostly sunny skies and warm, with a high near 80 degrees." More sun is expected Sunday, but a perfect 72 degrees is expected, according to Accuweather.com.

The Weekender starts out with the Service League of Crystal Lake's 39th Annual Housewalk on Friday, Sept. 27. The Housewalk is a fun opportunity to glimpse inside beautiful homes while helping the Service League's charitable efforts.

On Saturday, the Johnny Appleseed Festival returns to historic Downtown Crystal Lake. Kids will love the Harvest farm rides, bowling with pumpkins, apple cider press demonstration and lots more.

Several area pumpkin farms open for the season this weekend. Check out this very long list of pumpkin farms posted on Patch that details all the offerings: pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and fall festivals. If apple picking is what you're craving, here is a list of area apple farms.

Bikers won't want to miss the Architectural Bike Tour that starts at the historic Col. Palmer House in Crystal Lake and follows a seven-mile route highlighting the history of Nunda and present-day Crystal Lake.

Have a great weekend, CL and Cary!
