Woman Attacked By Stranger, His Dog In McHenry Park: Police

MCHENRY, IL — A 59-year-old woman was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack at a park in McHenry over the weekend.

Raymond P. Link, 47, of West Allis, Wisconsin, has been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened at Peterson Park at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.

Authorities say the woman was walking her dog in the park when Link, who was in the park with his unleashed dog, suddenly attacked and beat the woman. The attack appears to be unprovoked and authorities have not found any connection between Link and the woman.

The man's dog also attacked and bit the woman, police said.

A 37-year-old Good Samaritan intervened to try and help the woman, and he was also seriously injured as well, suffering a broken clavicle and a dog bite. The man, who did not know the woman or Link, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry

The woman was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry for treatment of serious injuries to her face and multiple dog bites. She has since been flown to Condell Medical Center for further treatment. He was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois, for
treatment.

Link's dog, who fled the area, was later located and released to the care of McHenry County Animal Control.

Link has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, aggravated battery by strangulation and aggravated battery in a public place.

He was transported to the McHenry County Jail to await court proceedings.
