Woman Charged In Connection With Death Of McHenry County Boy

The Richmond Township boy died at a McHenry hospital on Wednesday, authorities said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 45-year-old Round Lake Beach woman faces charges in connection with the death of a boy who was found unresponsive and later died at a McHenry County hospital this past week.

Cara Ulrich, 45, faces charges of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of endangering the life of a child following the Wednesday morning death of the child.

She also remains in custody on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear on a 2021 charge of aggravated battery and a 2020 charge of violation of an order of protection and domestic battery, authorities said Thursday.

Authorities say they were called to home in the 9600 block of Hallandale Lane in unincorporated Richmond Township at about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday to assist the Richmond Township Fire Protection District regarding a "medical emergency involving an unresponsive juvenile male."

The child was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Ullrich’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Friday at 1:15 p.m. An investigation into the death is ongoing.
