Woman Found Dead On Ground Near Woodstock: Authorities

WOODSTOCK, IL — A woman who may have been shot was found dead on the ground near Woodstock Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was called to the area of Route 14 and Hughes Road in unincorporated Woodstock at about 9 a.m. for a reported unknown medical emergency, according to a news release from the fire/rescue district.

Deputies learned the female sustained traumatic injuries "believed to be associated with a firearm," according to the news release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances and cause of death is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
