Woman Held Contempt Of Court After Showing Up To Court Drunk: Authorities
The blood alcohol content for Stephanie A. Powers, 37, was more than four times the legal limit while in court, authorities said.
A McHenry woman was found in contempt of court after she showed up to her criminal court case hearing with a blood alcohol content four times over the legal driving limit.
Stephanie A. Powers, 37, of McHenry, was charged in November with driving under the influence along with numerous traffic violations.

The charges stemmed from a traffic stop on November 20 near Route 12 and South Street in Richmond.
Officers found Powers was found to be driving under the influence after she allegedly committed multiple traffic violations, including improper passing and operating a vehicle with loud exhaust.

Powers refused to submit to DUI testing and was arrested, court documents show. She was released with a notice to appear in court.
Powers failed to appear for her court hearing on January 5 and a warrant was issued, court records show.
She was arrested on the warrant the next day and transported to the McHenry County Jail.
Powers was released after posting 10% of her $5,000 bond.
Powers appeared in court on February 16 for a judgement on bond forfeiture hearing.
McHenry County Judge Christopher Harmon said in a court order that Powers was showing “obvious signs of intoxication.” He ordered Powers, who denied consuming any alcohol, to report to pre-trial services to undergo a breathalyzer test.
Powers compiled and the results showed she had a blood alcohol content of 0.328. The state’s driving limit is 0.08.
Harmon found Powers in direct criminal contempt and deputies took Powers into custody.
Harmon ordered the woman to serve two days in the county jail.
The court hearing was continued and is scheduled to resume on March 2.
