Woodstock Man Accused Of Fatally Hitting Man With Car

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 51-year-old Park City man has died after he was hit by a car near Libertyville early Thursday.

The incident happened at about 3:20 a.m. on Route 137 and Clover Drive in unincorporated Libertyville, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. When deputies arrived, they found a 51-year-old Park City man with critical injuries.

Police say the man was hit by a 2016 Kia Rio, which was headed west on Route 137 at the time. The man was walking in the lane of traffic and them driver of the Rio, which was driven by a 54-year-old Woodstock man, told police he did not see the man before he hit him with his car, according to the news release.

Police are n9t sure why the Park City man was walking in traffic.

He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Kia was not injured.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is scheduling an autopsy, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
