KANE COUNTY, IL — A Woodstock man will spend 20 years in prison after he was found guilty in a child sex assault case.

A jury found Steven T. Grimmitt guilty of three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony, and 13 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, in November, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney. On March 7, Kane County Judge John Barsanti found Grimmitt entered findings of not guilty "notwithstanding the jury's verdict" on one of the predatory criminal sexual assault counts and six aggravated criminal sexual abuse counts.

Last week, Kane County Judge John Barsanti sentenced Grimmitt to 20 years in prison for the two remaining counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
