Woodstock Man Killed In Crash On IL Route 120

Officials said the Woodstock man ended up going off the shoulder of northbound Illinois Route 120 and into a tree.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Anne Majewski, announced Monday, that her office is investigating the death of a Woodstock man who was killed Saturday afternoon, March 9, in a crash in the 10,000 block of Illinois Route 120 in Woodstock. According to a news release from the coroner's office, a 911 call was made at 2:30 p.m. and Woodstock Fire and Rescue and the McHenry County Sheriff's Police responded to the scene.

According to a witness, Eberhard H. Biesenthal, 62, had driven north on Route 120, veer into the southbound lane, hit the guard rail, veer back into the northbound lane, before going off the shoulder and into a tree, the coroner's office reported. Bisenthal was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy performed Monday morning revealed he died from blunt trauma to the chest and abdomen, according to Majewski's office.

A release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office said the driver was belted in at the time of crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Toxicology testing is pending and the crash remains under investigation by the
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, a news release said.
