83-Year-Old Nabbed In Darien DUI: Cops

In another case, local officers tracked down the driver of a stolen car, police said.

An 83-year-old Downers Grove man who lives in the 8300 block of Lakeside Drive was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Darien police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

DUI

  • An 83-year-old Downers Grove man who lives in the 8300 block of Lakeside Drive was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Police said they were called to a crash near North Frontage Road and Carlisle Court. The man was given a court date and then released.

  • The police department's camera system alerted to a stolen car in town about 8:30 a.m. Monday. The 2017 white Kia Optima was spotted entering the Walgreens parking lot at 83rd Street and Lemont Road. The car was then seen at 87th Street and Lemont. The driver was stopped in the parking lot at Planet Fitness at 87th and Woodward Avenue. Police confirmed the car was stolen in Bolingbrook. Two people in the car were taken into custody and brought to the police station.

Hit-and-run

  • Police responded to a hit-and-run crash about 9 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot at Q Bar, 8109 Cass Ave. Camera footage showed the offending car, and officers were able to find it. A youth was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage crash, having no car insurance and driving without a valid license. He was given a court date and then released.
