Armed Robbery, Theft and a Bad Week for Walmart: Darien Police Blotter

Take a look at what Darien police have been up to for the past week.

The following items were taken from the Darien police blotter between Jan. 27 and Jan. 29. Arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Retail theft

  • Leslie Walker, 36, a Maywood resident, was arrested around 10 a.m. Jan. 27 after she stole $278.70 worth of miscellaneous items from Walmart at 2189 75th Street. She was arrested for retail theft, charged and released with a court date of Feb. 28 at the DuPage Judicial Center.

  • The same day (Jan. 27), around 6:30 p.m., a Walmart employee was in his parked car in the business’ lot when he was robbed by a man armed with a weapon. The man demanded the employee’s wallet and money, which the employee handed over, costing him $200 in lost cash. Police said the case was an isolated incident and that it’s still under investigation

Attempted burglary

  • A Woodspring Suites Hotel employee told police that sometime between 10 p.m. Jan. 29 and 8 a.m. Jan. 30, someone tried to gain access to the boiler room of the business, which is located at 951 North Frontage. No more information is known at this time, but nothing appeared to be stolen from the boiler room.
