Darien Police Reports: Trespass, Burglary, Theft
Darien Police Department reported crimes through July 31.

A resident in the 8300 block of Portsmouth Drive reported someone kicked in the front door to a vacant residence July 25. The estimated value of the damage is $100.
A resident in the 6900 block of Eleanor Place reported that between July 25 at about 10:30 p.m. and July 26 at 8:30 a.m., someone broke the driver’s side window of a car. Nothing appeared stolen. The estimated value of the damage is $500.

A male juvenile of Darien was cited July 26 for unlawful possession of cannabis, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver’s license, no valid registration and improper lighting on Plainfield Road at Linden Avenue. The juvenile was released to a parent with a court date pending at the Downers Grove Field Court.
A resident in the 2700 block of Woodmere Drive reported that at about 1:18 a.m. July 28, someone entered two unlocked cars on the driveway. Three pairs of sunglasses, work identification and a pair of headphones were stolen with an estimated value of $1,180.

Officers canvassed the area of Woodmere Drive July 28 and noticed another burglarized motor vehicle in the 2700 block. Someone entered an unlocked car on the driveway. The owner did not note anything missing from the car.
While canvassing the neighborhood of 2700 block of Woodmere on July 28, officers noted a residential security camera. Officers asked the homeowner to view the overnight footage and noted that at approximately 1:22 a.m., someone entered an open garage and stole an unlocked black Hyundai Sonata. After exiting the garage, the garage door was closed. Estimated value of loss is unknown at the time of the report.
- The Darien Police Department would like to remind residents and business owners of the Video Camera Registry online. No cameras are accessed without the owner’s consent. Any help in apprehending criminals is deeply appreciated and makes Darien safer.
Kayla Nishioka, 18, of the 1000 block of S. Williams Street in Westmont, was arrested July 28 and charged with a local ordinance of retail theft. Nishioka attempted to remove some women’s clothing past the last point of sale from Walmart located at 2189 75th St., police say. Nishioka was processed and released on scene with a court date pending at the Downers Grove Field Court. Estimated value of merchandise $19.
A resident in the 3300 block of Gilbert Court reported that between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 28 someone entered a car parked on the driveway. There were no signs of forced entry and it is unknown if the car was locked. A wallet and cash were stolen with an estimated value of $60.
Between Dec. 1, 2015, and July 29, someone forced entry to a locked storage unit at 1001 N. Frontage Road and stole various power tools and two televisions. The estimated value of loss is $3,000.
A resident in the 800 block of 69th Street reported that between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 31, someone entered the garage through the open overhead door and stole a bicycle. The estimated value of loss is $150.
