Darien Police Reports: Vandalism, Theft, Burglary
Darien Police Department reported crimes through July 24.

Amanda Palz, 28 of the 8000 block of 44th Court in Lyons, was arrested July 18 and charged with retail theft when police say she tried to remove six cans of formula past the last point of sale from Jewel, 7335 Cass Avenue. Palz was processed and released with a court date of Aug. 20 in Wheaton. The estimated value of the merchandise is $97.
At about 2:03 a.m. July 19, the manager of the Sprint store, 7517 Cass Avenue, notified the Darien Police Department of a burglary in progress. Someone used a heavy object to break a window to get inside the store. The person stole several display cell phones. The estimated value of loss is $2,166.

A resident in the 8400 block of Dixon Court reported that between July 18 at about 8 p.m. and July 19 at 5:30 a.m., someone entered an unlocked car parked on a driveway. An unknown amount of cash was stolen.
A resident in the 1500 block of 73rd Street reported that between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. July 22, someone egged their home and the car parked in the driveway. The estimated value of damage is unknown.

A resident in the 8100 block of Chapman Court reported that at about 3:35 a.m. July 22, someone egged the home and the car parked in the driveway. The estimated value of damage is unknown.
A resident in the 1000 block of Park Crest Drive reported that sometime between 1 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. July 22, someone used a sharp object and scratched the passenger side of a vehicle. The estimated value of damage is $500.
Cherilyn Habaibeh, 22 of the 9400 block of Tulley Avenue in Oak Lawn, was arrested July 24 and charged with driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, unsafe equipment and disobeyed traffic control signal. Habaibeh was driving on the tire rim when she was pulled over in the 7500 block of Cass Avenue. Habaibeh was processed and released with a court date of Aug, 23 in Wheaton.
