Hinsdale South Adding This Sport
The school is the last in the West Suburban Conference to start offering it.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale South High School is now approved for girls wrestling, the last school in its conference to start offering it.
On Thursday, the Hinsdale High School District 86 board voted unanimously for the winter sport. The action takes effect immediately.
According to the district, eight girls are interested in taking part. The estimated yearly cost is between $28,533 to $38,120, with one head coach.

Of the 14 high schools in the West Suburban Conference, all but South have fielded girls wrestling teams. That even includes South's sister, Hinsdale Central.
South has the smallest enrollment of the conference schools.

At a board meeting in early October, South's lone female wrestler, junior Callie Carr, urged the district to allow a team.
Later in that meeting, board members Asma Akhras and Abed Rahman said they wanted the district to look into the request. Of the seven board members, they are the only ones from the South zone.
