HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale High School District 86 board decided Thursday to create a new administrative position – director of data and analytics.

In recent times, though, the district has eliminated 1½ administrative positions.

At its meeting Thursday, the board hired Hinsdale South High math teacher Alexandra Fosco at a salary of $115,000 for the position. As of last year, her pay was $91,000, according to district records.

At the meeting, board President Catherine Greenspon said the position would help improve student outcomes and "surface important insights."

"We talk a lot, a lot, a very lot about data around this table," Greenspon told the board. "So adding capacity here would serve the district well."

In December 2023, the district's communications coordinator, Alyssa Barry, resigned. Her position was not filled.

Last July, Kurt Vonnahme, who was handling the district's data needs in a half-time role, became assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at South. His half-time post was not filled at the time.

The compensation for both Barry and Vonnahme more than offset Fosco's director salary.
