Person Dies After Darien Home Fire: Authorities
Firefighters rescued the person, who was trapped inside, the local fire district said.
DARIEN, IL – A person died after being rescued in a Darien house fire Tuesday evening, the local fire district reported.
About 5:30 p.m., firefighters from the Tri-State Fire Protection District were called to a fire in the 6800 block of Clarendon Hills Road, according to a district news release. They were told that a person was trapped inside.
The crew immediately went inside to find the person while trying to put out the fire. They removed the person, who was taken by ambulance to Hinsdale Hospital, where the person died, the district said.

The fire was under control in about 15 minutes.
A police officer was taken to Hinsdale Hospital for smoke inhalation and later released, the district said.

Fire crews stayed at the house for 3½ hours.
The fire's cause is under investigation, the district said.
