Wants To 'Help Even More People': Darien Hero
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one Darien resident who is having an impact.

DARIEN, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Bev Muscarella, who nominated Steven Dickens of Darien. Muscarella is a member of Dickens' church.

How do you know the local hero?
I go to his church
What does the local hero do?
He's a hospice bereavement coordinator and provides interim ministry for St. Mark Lutheran Church in Worth, where he leads worship and funerals and provides pastoral care.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
He works two different jobs, both of which help other people. For hospice, he calls people who lost loved ones and provides grief support and at church he inspires other people to be their best selves and gives counseling and care to those who need it. Even in the midst of the Covid-19, he leads in-person funerals and visits people in the hospital and talks with people in his office and preaches sermons that give people hope and reminds them that they are loved... Recently Steven decided to go back to seminary to become a pastor since now he is currently a pulpit supply deacon. He wants to become a pastor, so he can help even more people.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
Even though he works two jobs, he always makes time for his family.
Thank you for all you do, Steven Dickens!
