West Suburban Bank Robbed Monday Afternoon: Darien Police

The police were called around 2:30 p.m.

West Suburban Bank in Darien was robbed just before 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Police responded to 8001 Cass Ave. after a man entered the bank, gave a teller a note demanding money and fled with an undetermined amount of cash, the City of Darien announced in a release. The suspect fled on foot.

Schools and businesses in the area were "advised and put on lock-down," the release states, but those precautions have now been lifted.

"We do not believe there is any threat to the neighborhood," officials said in the release, noting that the local police department will be working with the Chicago FBI to solve the case and find the suspect.

The man who robbed the bank is described as a black male around 4o years old and standing around 6 feet tall. He reportedly has a medium build, black hair and is clean-shaven. The man was last seen wearing a White Sox baseball cap, dark sunglasses, brown Carhartt-style jacket, a hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and black and white Nike shoes, according to the release.
