Jodi Shapira for District 113 Board: Letter

District 109 PTO presidents support Shapira for District 113 board.

We are writing in strong support of Jodi Shapira in her candidacy for the Township High School District 113 School Board. Jodi has been an outstanding school board member for Deerfield District 109. We have worked closely with her on many issues for years and she has always been responsive and level-headed. She is truly dedicated and works well with a wide variety of people. She takes the time to do her homework and fully understand the issues she is working on.

One of the things we have always admired about Jodi is the enormous energy she brings to school issues. In her campaign, she has been working hard to gather input from parents, teachers and other citizens about what they think is working and what is broken in our schools. “Let’s Do Something Together” is not an empty campaign slogan but, rather, Jodi’s sincere promise that, if elected, she will work diligently for each and every student in our school system. Her commitment to District 113 goes far beyond the interests of her own children; she cares deeply about the quality of education for all students, and knows how to advocate fairly and passionately for students, families, teachers, and administrators, whether it be in negotiating a new teachers’ contract, reexamining the school calendar, addressing new curriculum requirements and changes, maintaining our schools’ educational excellence under a strict fiscal regimen, or selecting a successor for superintendent.

Jodi has “been there, done that” and knows how a school board member is supposed to treat both their fellow board members as well as their constituents, something that is currently very much lacking on the District 113 Board.

We encourage everyone to elect Jodi on April 2nd!
