Winter Lighting Celebration Promises Holiday Family Fun In Deerfield

The Village of Deerfield's Winter Market will also be part of the annual festivities in December.

DEERFIELD, IL — Monday's snow is a reminder that the holiday season is not too far away. The Village of Deerfield has announced dates for its Winter Lighting Celebration and Winter Market next month.

Mayor Dan Shapiro will illuminate Village Hall following a night of fun with the traditional Winter Lighting Celebration. Held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 5, the event will include live ice sculpting, tractor and performances by the Deerfield High School Choraliers and Frozen Robins. Warm up with roasted chestnuts and complimentary treats as the event concludes with the lighting ceremony.

The festivities continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6, with the Winter Market at the Patty Turner Center, 375 Elm St. According to officials, attendees the event will include craft and retail vendors, live music, delicious food, children's activities and opportunities to connect with local civic organizations. Featured attractions include a giant outdoor snow globe, a visit from Santa and a Polar Express train ride.
