CROP Walk Steps Off in Downers Grove Sunday

The 28th annual South DuPage CROP Hunger Walk begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4501 Main St., Downers Grove.

The purpose of the annual October walk is to raise money to support hunger and poverty programs throughout the world and also hunger relief agencies in the local community. All walks operate as an arm of Church World Services.

• Final Farmers Market: The final Downtown Downers Grove Market will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.
• Week 8 Football: Downers Grove South hosts Proviso East and Downers Grove North travels to Proviso West. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
• Cheerleading Clinic: Boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to a Cheerleading Clinic sponsored by the Downers Grove North High School cheerleaders, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 19, in the DGN Field House.
