Another commissioner resigned from the Village Council on Monday.

Commissioner Gina Vattimo announced her "effective immediately" decision in a letter to the village council in which she expressed gratitude for the opportunity and described her brief time on the council as a "privilege."
"I would especially like to thank Mayor (Martin) Tully for being a great mentor as well as someone who cares deeply about Downers Grove and its future," she said.

Vattimo was elected last April to serve through May 2019. Her Monday letter came about one week after village officials named Marge Earl as the chairwoman of its Zoning Board of Appeals and Comprehensive Planning Ad-Hoc Committee. My Suburban Life reported that the vacancy was, "created in the trickle-down aftermath of former State Rep. Ron Sandack's sudden resignation months before his re-election bid, citing 'cybersecurity issues."
