Downers Grove high schools plan to hand every student an electronic device

Education to change for Downers Grove North and South students.

Either Chromebooks or i-Pads will be the new personal learning tool for approximately 9,000 students in Downers Grove Elementary School District 58 as well as both Downer Grove North and South High Schools when classes resume in August, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

After starting the program after spring break for some students enrolled in summer enrichment classes, District 58 elected to discontinue a filter program to prevent students from accessing inappropriate sites when they went home, according to the Tribune. That filter has been eliminated to ease internet access. Parents will be responsible for monitoring their children’s computer behavior at home.
