Downers Grove to Host Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Downers Grove, IL - Alexander Bradley Burns American Legion Post No. 80 will host Memorial Day ceremonies May 30 in Downers Grove.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a memorial service at the post, 4000 Saratoga Ave., according to the village.

The post's honor guard will visit six area cemeteries from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. to salute fallen veterans.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Burlington Avenue and Main Street. The parade will travel south on Main to Grove Street, ending at Fishel Park. The Memorial Day Ceremony will begin in the park at 11 a.m.

Most village offices will be closed May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. 

May 30 is also a holiday for the village’s garbage hauler. Collection will be one day later during this week and includes Saturday pickup for those whose regular collection day is Friday.
